Default 2006 Volvo C50

Well, I got a scoop on the 2006 Volvo C50. I do not know if anyone had posted any information about this before. Apparently it is a S40 hard top convertible. I dont know if any of you have ever driven in either a C70 or an 04.5-05 S40 but both cars have very limited rear window space. I hope they can modify the rear window, I know Volvo engineer's are smarter than that

Anyone else have comments?

Yeah that color is weird but it's ok. I think the flame red color will sell more than any other color.

I've known about this car for a while but I thought it was originaly supposed to be a wagon back coupe. I guess they made C30 a wagon instead. My band used to be called C50. It was the high school detention room.

Comments? I feel like the "hardtop convertible" is a big letdown. I was REALLY excited when I saw C50 in the thread title, as I've been waiting for an AWD/RWD non-convertible coupe from Volvo. I love coupes (hence the two 242s I own, and NO 4-doors or wagons) but all of the convertibles I've driven from a '63 Impala to a '94 Mustang as well as a couple of Audis, a VW Cabriolet, etc...They all flex. I hear the C70 convertible flexes TERRIBLY.

So honestly, I'm kind of disappointed. If it's both stiff and safe as their older cars, I'll reconsider...but I doubt it.

I'm pissed that the C70 isn't made anymore as a non convertible, I don't want no damn convertible, volvo says it's still safe, if you flipped how HTF would it be safe, there is no roll bar or anything I could recall? according to the dealer they said volvo is supposed to come out with a hard top version, maybe this is what they were referring to . . . . ?

agreed. IMHO the C70 coupe was the most beautiful FWD volvo ever made.

My dad said exactly the same thing about the C70 convertible. How the hell is it safe if it's got no roll bars? This can't be a Volvo... then the salesman (and me, haha) pointed out the automatically deployed roll bar behind the seats

yeh the roll bars pop out of the back of the head rests in the back i remember seeing, and when they pop out its solid. I remember seeing it happen once, and it looked like if a cat was sitting ontop while it occured, the cat would be launched about 25ft in the air!! But i agree the front of C70s do not look stable incase of a roll or flip.

those "boxed" fenders are covered, so people cant see what it really looks like.

This picture was posted on swedespeed about 2 days ago from a guy in Sweden. Some people had their doubts whether it is real or not, until a some of the board mods who are "in the loop" with Volvo, and have seen the car before in person, confirmed that yes, this is infact an actual pic of the new C70. The real deal. It is a convertible with a 3 piece retractable hard top, so basically, it can be a coupe, or a convertible.

ok ladies here's the latest and greatest:

seems as though it was cought during a introduction photoshoot

looks hot, and very similar to renderings. Volvo didn't stretch their imagination too far from the s40.

Whats up with that last picture? The car is tilted to its side almost with the look of a flat tire.

I know that's a grainy picture, but it looks like a Chrysler Sebring in that pic.
