Volvo 940 Turbo Wagon Goes 2JZ GTE VVTI!

Hi there!

I'm Luca and a few months ago I bought my first Volvo, a 940 wagon on LPG and I absolutely love it. That's when I decided that I should buy another 940 wagon and drop a 2JZ in it:-P.

I also own a 250hp Turbo Miata which is loads of fun and the main purpose of the car is drifting. On my YouTube channel I upload a new video every week about my project cars. So this 1JZ 940 build will be completely documented on YouTube.

Drifting my Miata:

And here a short video of me at the dealership where I bought the Volvo 940 Wagon HPT:

Like I said in the video, the car is really clean and it was a bargain! I almost wouldn't swap the engine because of how clean the car is.. The car came with ?17.000 of documented service history:omg:

At the moment I'm on the hunt for a good 1 or 2JZ engine with a loom, ecu and all other accessories.

The JZ swap mounts arrived yesterday!

For christmas I bought myself a 2JZ GTE VVTI of JDMDistro. The engine comes with a loom, automatic gearbox and all accessories. Since I have 2 weeks off from work I start working on the 940 by pulling the engine.

The next thing will be removing the dash and sorting out all the wiring:wtf::omg:

Hi Luca,

Glad you found your way onto Turbobricks, ready for a lifechanging experience and many "Scrap it" comments :p
Are you prepared to let your Nyata go? Once you're infected with the Turbobricks and Volvo virus, there is no stopping it.

Allready figured out what you're going to do with the rear end of the 940? just weld the diff on the 1031? Or do you have the 1041 axle (with G80 Locker)?

Hi Estoque,

Haha the Nyata will stay for a while.. But after finishing this 2JZ swap I'm done with custom engine swaps for a few months :-P. And I'm already infected, this is my second 940 within 2 months.

I will weld the diff and then do some research on axles/diffs that can cope with my power goals (500/600hp).

The second episode is online :D

I swapped in an 8.8 from an explorer into my 940. With a few chromoly parts it handles a ton of power and some serious launches

looking really good! nice workspace you've got there aswel.
but if this is episode 2, and you take lets say, a week to edit. this thing should be on the road by now right? :)
just kidding, engine swaps look real fast at first, but "de laatste loodjes" take a long time.
keep up the good work!

And the 3rd episode! Way too much video content on my harddrive haha..

Bloody hell mate, you make a lot of content! Followed your miata build from the start, was really excited to see you like bricks as well!

What area are you located in, seeing as you do meets and such. Maybe you should do a Volvo event in the future.

good job your doing with that 940. i will follow your youtube channel. a 2jz engine is cool as hell in a brick.
