I'm pretty sure this is a 1980 242 GT steering wheel, OR is another GT wheel sold as an accessory. Can anyone POSITIVELY CONFIRM this?? The pic was taken tonite(in rain) so why not a great pic. Wheel is 14.5" diameter though.See pic below.

Not a '80 GT wheel. Pretty sure that's from a 140.

The 240 GT wheel should be the same wheel as the Bertone, Turbo, GLT, and '86-'88 DL/GL. There may be others that are the same as well from some of the GL/GLE 6cyl models.

I have a GT horn pad from a 240, and it fit directly in place of the horn pad on my '87 DL wheel. The GT wheel from a 240 is not special...it's just the horn pad that's different.

So a 140 GT wheel? I knew the 240 14.5 wheels are same, only pad different on GT wheel. Different from Turbo & standard pad.

Strange isn't it? Might know someone who knows, but will be weekend.Anybody? Where's the experts??

It says VOLVO GT on it.Was in Gold lettering, has turned color a little though. What is confusing is what model(140/240) GT it's for. Need to know for sure.

Well, the 140 and 240 use different hubs. Does it have a separate hub? If not, one could safely assume that it is an uncommon 240 GT wheel. If it has a removable hub, it might be from a 140, adapted to a 240, but I have never seen that wheel on a 140.

I wonder if it's a European market GT wheel for 240? I've never seen 140 wheel like it either, it(hub) is one piece like a 240 14.5 steering wheel. Anyone else positively ID it?

The hubs are different depths.
The splines, and mounting thickness is the same.

I stand corrected.

You are correct about fitment.
The 240 metal surround for the indicator switches prevents a 140 wheel from going on.
A 240 wheel on a 140 will stick out too far.

For 1973 and up 1 series looks the same as that. Listed as PN-282882, and 15" or 370mm. I've seen that horn pad on other wheels though.

If it is a 14.5" and on a 240 it's most likely just the centre horn pad added to an early 240 wheel.

So, would that wheel fit on either a 1973 or 1974 140?
