I am rebuilding my motor and I am wondering what size and type of hone people have has the most luck with on redblocks. The block I am using is a 1986 b230f NA block the cylinder bore currently measures with calipers to 3.76". So I am wondering what kind of hone have people used Flex ball or 3 stone? What size did you use?

Any other tips are greatly appreciated if you have any

Are you just going for a quick de-glaze and slap new rings in? Or are you trying to resize and square up the bore?

Ball hone it.

Bingo.

I just grab the 4in one we have at the shop, but if you’re buying new you will have more size options. A few strokes at low-mid speed works great. Use some light oil or solvent as a lubricant. ATF, kerosene, mineral spirits, wd40... they all work.

Make sure you scrub the bores with soap and warm water when you’re done.
