No Charge, Alternator or Voltage Regulator? 92 240

I've got a battery that isn't being charged when running, how do I know if it's the alternator, and expensive part, or the voltage regulator, a not very expensive part?
 
It is probably the alternator, if it was the voltage regulator you would be getting a charge, but the voltage would be too low or too high.

What voltage is it providing at the moment?
