Look under the spare tire, up along the inside of the rear panel and locate the antenna cable. I think you will find a socket / connection there to plug the new cable into. It's been a while but I think that's how mine was.

Yes, the threaded stud. I got lucky. But something like the one I linked would work. Just unscrew your old assembly and replace.

OP: With all the cautions as above, and the car gotten to Stage 0, it can be done. I daily a 91 245, and my wife has commandeered the 90 245. Last Fall we drove 2,659 miles to Texas and back in the 91. Good luck with it.

The car looks really great. And lots of good work done. Now p l e a s e just take care of those bumpers! They really let down what is otherwise a truly lovely looking car. Just choose your poison; SEM bumper paint, Back to Black, or massage them back with a heat gun. Something!! Anything...
