My giant disclaimer is that I know nothing mechanically about 240s.
A friend has a 245 that they want to sell. It's been parked for about 6 months due to it dying occasionally and sometimes not starting when warm. He remembers that his mechanic told him that it was probably a "sensor under...
I saw an old Suburban at the PDX Swap Meet with a pretty cool paint job. I didn't have my camera so I didn't get any pictures. The best that I can describe it is that it was a flat olive green with black specks in it. Is this a particular style or type of paint? I'm contemplating options for...
A friend has an '87 245. She said that it dies fairly frequently when it is warmed up and has left her stranded several times. She has had work done on the injectors to no avail and one mechanic suggested condensation in the distributor cap. What might be some common causes of such a problem...
Neighbor just replaced the rear rotors on his S80. He also replaced pads all the way around. His wife now says that they are humming and there is more pedal travel before engaging than there should be. He didn't bleed the brakes. What's the proper bleeding order on that car?
If there is a slight stutter when turning, are the wheel bearings going out or is it something else? No other noises or vibrations while driving normally, only feel it when turning fairly tight, like parking. I've only briefly driven the car (245) but it felt like it was coming from the right...
Any reason why it wouldn't work to connect an old head unit up to a 12V 7AH battery to test it? I'm assuming it would be as simple as hooking the red power wire to + and the black ground wire to -. Am I wrong about this?
Probably going to need 10mm spacers to run these on the 145, but I like 'em. Add chrome trim rings with the 140 centers and find some good tires and I'll be set.
Chime in with your paint scheme ideas. After a few hours in a borrowed media blaster (thanks Brian) I got the black nasty removed. I have an idea in mind of what to do with it but I'm curious what you all think. This thing is a survivor. My youngest tossed it out an open 2nd story window...
But search does not reveal the thread. Picking up a manual transmission wagon that won't shift into 3rd or 4th. 1-2 shifts fine according to owner, not sure about reverse. Isn't there a pin or bolt at the base of the shifter assembly that, if broken, can cause this symptom? I'm going to dig...
Here's the scenario. I test fitted a set of OEM FWD Volvo 16x6.5 wheels with a 43 offset on my 1972 145. The tires are 205/55/16. The wheels are all straight, no bends. They are rubbing on the rear, but it isn't a constant rub, only once briefly per rotation. I haven't closely investigated...
I'm re-doing a 145 dash and I want to use metal switches. Most would be on/off, but I need a couple that would allow for off/low/high. Anybody have recommendations? Guess that I could try Fry's.
