Hello Guest, welcome to the initial stages of our new platform! You can find some additional information about where we are in the process of migrating the board and setting up our new software here
Went to start the 245 the other day and had a dead battery, which had never happened before even when it has not been driven in a while. I jumped the car took it for a 15 minute drive and it started right back up. Two days later the battery is flat again.
I take the battery into Autozone...

The clunking is gone but I can still feel a little drive line vibration if I pull away hard in first. Otherwise smooth. Nothing too concerning, but I might take a closer look at my rear suspension bushings when I get a chance. None of them have very many miles on them.
I might...
So I decided to pull the driveshaft and replace the U joints and bushing. I did not know the age of the old U-joints so I figured for $30 I might as well replace them.
When I pulled the old U-joints I was surprised to see they were in relatively good condition just a little dry.
I always...
Some information. The m46 swap is over a year old, this noise just started. I noticed a clunk a couple days ago and now I get that wrapping you hear in the video in any straight line acceleration only in first gear from a dead stop. If I am rolling then stomp the gas I do not get the noise...
Yes the i replaced the carrier bearing not too long ago. I just crawled under there, I didn't see anything wrong but shaking the drive shaft did make the spring on the carrier bearing clunk around a bit. I greased that up and see if it makes a difference.
My 1991 Volvo 240, M46 manual swap just started to make a clunking noise as I pull away in first gear. It’s not just one clunk it sort of repeatedly clunks then quiets down. Then sound seems to be coming from the location of the driveshaft bearing/u joint not the clutch or front of the...
I took out the borescope (it's tight back there!!) and it is defiantly leaking from the back of the valve cover/cam plug area. The PVC system is good, replaced the box not too long ago. I should have replaced the cap when I swapped the cams and now that is coming back to bite me. Also I never...
I did not even know they sold cam plug retainers. Thanks. I'm going to have to get back between the engine and firewall and see where this is all coming from.
After nearly a year with virtually no oil leaks my 91 245 has sprung a new one after being seldomly used this winter. It appears to be focused on the rear passenger side of the engine near the coolant drain and above it.
I replaced the rear main seal when I swapped the transmission — I...
I think that would work well for this application. The box could be made a little shorter and pretty much be a perfect fit. It does work as is, but if anyone would like a small modification I could always do that.
For the good of the cause I have creating a 3D printable housing that makes it easy to implement Dave Barton's alternative to the original high beam latching relay. It plugs into the stock harness, you don't have to make any changes to the car's wiring and it should be easy to swap out the new...
I have finally remodeled the center caps I made up for using Aries wheels on a Volvo 240. You can't use the stock hubcaps when running Aries on a 240 so this is one option for people. Pop one of Dave Barton's stickers on there for some customization. The front and rear caps are slightly...
I am putting new rear wheel bearings on my 91 240. I am ready to press on the new bearings but I want to make sure it goes in the right direction. I feel like the writing should be facing inside towards the diff, can anyone confirm?

Hi my m46 swapped 91 245 has begun to drop out of overdrive when it goes over bumps. This seems like an electrical issue to me. I suspect the grounding strap I worked up for the solenoid is less then reliable. However I though I would run it by the braintrust to see if this could be caused by...
I have a 91 240 that has been M46 swapped that has developed a high pitch squeal/whistle that seems to start around 60mph. It is speed dependent, not engine RPM dependent. It's varies in loudness and sometimes seems to almost disappear. Because of its high pitch nature its pretty hard to...
Ever since I?ve had my 91 240 it will throw an occasional 2-3-1 code. If I clear it it might stay off for a month or two or it might stay off for a week or two. (I don?t drive the car daily but I use it a few times a week.) The car seems to be running perfectly. I have replaced the oxygen...
