"Barn Find" 1980 242. Now with Turbo LS

BIG UPDATES, Now Turbo Aluminum 5.3 LS with Haltech:

So I was looking at the 5.3 l33 that I put together last winter for my 93 classic wagon and looking at the 242. I figured if I can sell the 16v Redblock I can swap the 242 instead, and make the wagon a nice daily driver with a +t setup. So I listed up the engine and it sold within a few days!

Now it's time to start the LS swap. Here are the details.

Haltech Rebel LS
Stock unmodified 5.3 Aluminum l33 with 190,000 miles with a new oil pump.
Texas Speed Madd Maxx Camshaft
Heads were cleaned and had a valve job done with upgraded valvetrain for the cam.
VS Racing Billet 78/75 with T51R housing
TKX 5 speed with McLeod Street Pro clutch setup.
Andersson Steel and Speed LS engines mounts
Summit Low profile oil pan.
Holley Ultra low ram intake with 100# injectors
LS3 DBW TB

Haltech Rebel LS is crazy nice. It's the cheapest on the market for plug and play standalones as well.

Clearance with the low profile oil pan. Since the sump comes further forward I notched the crossmember with the play available from ASS

Engine/Trans install went pretty smoothly. I had to drop the cross member a bit to get the pan in, but overall its a quick pull/install.

The shifter location is about 1.5" futher forward than it need to be. A small cut of the shifter hole and an offset lever should take care of that. I can bring the engine back another 1", but I would start to run into tunnel/firewall clearance.
