What is the most obnoxious horn I can mount to a 240?

I am curious, what is the most obnoxious and/or uncharacteristic horn I can mount to a 240 with the stock wiring? Something available in a junkyard is preferable.

Slightly older full-sized Buicks and Caddy's will have those in the PnP junkyards. It's a nice full sounding set. My wife put a set on her 4Runner to get rid of the 'meep meep' horns it came with.

Not a fan of horns, blow it at someone doing something stupid and you will probably scare them into doing something even more stupid. Best to remain calm, drive through the situation, and swear about it later.

If you gotta be like that though, air horns are the most obnoxious thing to let the world know "I'm a douchebag and never made a mistake on the road" Sounds like ya don't wanna spend the $30 bucks though.

If your 240 has the stock dual horn setup. Just add a relay to power the horns. It becomes obnoxiously loud. Just need a relay and some wiring. you can connect a fused power feed right from the left inner fender power distribution box. Use a weather sealed relay.

The other classic horn setup is the Hella Super Tone horns.

I added the dual horns and a relay to my 93 because the horn in that car failed. The single horn 240 has a weak wimpy horn that should be at least backdated to 90 and older.

I'll have to completely disagree, I honk at people all the time. Locals here sit at green lights on their phone, swerve into my lane on the highway, etc.


I had Lexus GS300 horns in my 93 245. They are your typical high end horn. Can't stand the sound of GM horns.

When the b16 windowed the block on my 444 I upgraded to a b18. Changed everything to 12 except the horns. They would make the most grating sound you ever heard and they were LOUD.

Fair enough, my main traffic problem is people ALWAYS doing 5 or 10 mph slower than the speed limit, which is usually about 20/30 mph slower than I want to be traveling at, honking doesn't help. Now a siren may be a different story, haven't tried that yet due to an allergy to jail cells.

Is cell phone use while driving legal where you live?

OP, why do you need to terrify people with your horn? Just curious.

This post is mostly just my own curiosity regarding a topic I never hear much about.

To be honest I just want to boost the volume a bit. It doesn't seem quite loud enough to get other driver's attention. A modest increase should be fine.

I almost never drive into a box and have to use the horn for what it is intended to be used for, 99.9% of the time I'm tapping it gently to say to neighbors and friends in the neighborhood.

Yeah people drive slow because they aren't in a hurry. I don't understand their logic. When I'm on the road, I stay as far away from people as possible. I go when the light turns green (so easy to read opposing directions traffic lights to the point I know when it's going to turn green), and I keep right except to pass.

Fun fact about the siren/alarm. I had an alarm hooked up to my horn. It did not resemble police/ambulance etc, but boy it sure made people get out of the left lane.

Regardless of whether or not I'm in a hurry, it's incredibly annoying to be stuck behind people that aren't aware of their surroundings. I often hear people use this as an excuse, "are you in a hurry?". No I'm just trying to get off the ****ing road away from all these mongoloid soccer moms.

My main aggravation comes from drunk drivers (I see it a few times a month), texting and driving (I see 10+ a day, swerving, sitting at green lights), and people who drive under the speed limit. And especially people who drive in the passing lane without passing.
